Emmett Township, Michigan — A formal request for investigation has been submitted by FAFO Justice to the Michigan Department of Attorney General regarding allegations of undisclosed conflicts of interest, governance misconduct, and possible abuses of public trust involving officials in Emmett Township.
The request centers on the township’s controversial proposed Sackrider megasite development and claims that multiple members of the Emmett Township Board of Trustees may hold direct or indirect conflicts of interest that have not been properly disclosed to the public during official proceedings.
Residents and critics have raised concerns that township decisions tied to the project may have been influenced by relationships, financial interests, or other undisclosed connections. Those concerns have intensified amid a broader climate of political infighting between township leadership and members of the Planning Commission who have consistently challenged the project and called for greater transparency.
The formal request submitted to the Attorney General reportedly seeks review of:
Alleged undisclosed conflicts of interest by township officials.
Potential violations of public ethics and fiduciary duties.
