Athens, Battle Creek, East Leroy, Hastings, Union City, MI — Community members are being warned about serious allegations against Kris Douponce, owner of KVD Property Management rentals. Known locally as “KD,” Kris Douponce is a former Michigan State Police (MSP) detective whose law enforcement background may be shielding him from full accountability in both the courts and with authorities.
Multiple women have come forward, reporting that Douponce pressured them into providing sexual favors in exchange for housing, rent leniency, or avoiding eviction. Experts say such conduct constitutes illegal sexual exploitation under federal and Michigan fair housing laws.
Sources say these are not isolated incidents. Douponce was reportedly known for inappropriate behavior with female recruits at the Kellogg Community College (KCC) police academy, which allegedly led to his dismissal. Other reports claim that while serving as an MSP trooper, he pulled women over, demanded explicit images in exchange for avoiding a ticket, and issued the ticket regardless — a clear abuse of power.
Douponce is also reported to have a history of domestic violence. Court filings indicate he has used his significant rental income, reportedly over $35,000 per month, to file hundreds of motions against his ex-wife, most of which have been ruled in his favor. Advocates say this represents a troubling pattern of exploiting both law enforcement experience and courtroom familiarity to intimidate and control.
“The combination of law enforcement experience and financial leverage creates an imbalance of power that allows exploitation to continue unchecked,” said a legal advocate familiar with the case.
Recently on social media a Community Alert was put out regarding “KD” coercing, pressuring or demanding sex in lieu of rental payments.
Kris Douponce owns 105 properties in 3 counties.
